ANSWERS

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is ZCAM ?

ZCAM (pronounced zetacam) stands for Zaragoza Scientific Centre for Advanced Modelling
Its aim is to provide a place where researchers can meet, work, exchange ideas and provide tutorials on modern computational techniques used in Science.
Located in Zaragoza (Aragon, España) it has many facilities to organize scientific meetings, workshops and tutorials. Meeting room, tutorial room equipped with twenty computers, data projector, offices for invited speakers, participants and visiting professors and a team of young dedicated research fellows.

What is the relation between ZCAM and CECAM ?

The European centre for atomic and molecular computations (Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire CECAM) is devoted to advanced techniques in computational science. It is supported by all major scientific institutions of Europe.
CECAM has recently developed a network of national, local centers with which CECAM wants to collaborate and extend its actions. ZCAM is in talks with CECAM to be part of this network.

Workshops, tutorials ?

To quote CECAM : "workshops are intended as a forum for the discussion of a specific topic while tutorials are meant to introduce PhD students, young researchers and neophytes to the fundamental aspects of the simulations-driven approach to science and/or specific methodologies of wide interest".

What is a proposal ?

Workshops, tutorials result from initiatives taken by a person or a group of people interested in a particular modern subject in relation to computational science. These persons, the organizers, are responsible for every aspect of the activity, subject, contents, schedule, participants, speakers, the collecting of contributions, the publicity for the event, abstracts publishing, etc.
All these informations have to be put online on the ZCAM site by the person responsible of the project

To initiate the process of setting up such an activity, a proposal has to be made to the scientific committee. The proposal, generally made online through the ZCAM website is reviewed and, if accepted, receives the support of ZCAM.

Where do I find (or get) information about ZCAM and its activities ?

Information is available on the ZCAM website , whose URL is http://www.z-cam.es/.

News about activities, as well on ZCAM premises as elsewhere, are published on the site regularly and it is possible to register to a RSS feed to get them automatically.

Do I need to register to have access to the ZCAM informations ?

Not at all. All informations are public and can be accessed by everyone. When published (put on line and accepted) summaries of activities, abstracts of contributions, list of participants, files submitted by participants can be read online or downloaded. Templates to make proposals, to manage the activities, are only accessible to registered users.

I know a colleague has made a proposal. Why can't I see it on the ZCAM site ?

Only the approved activities are public. Proposals not yet reviewed are only accessible by the person responsible for them.

USERS

Why should I register as a user ?

Only registered users have the possibility to write, manage and submit proposals to the Zcam committee.
Also, only registered users can contact the organizers of an activity or apply to one.

How do I register as a user ?

It suffices to fill an online template on the ZCAM website. It is found as an option in the "User's space" menu.

How do I know I am effectively registered ?

As soon as the completed template to register is submitted, an eMail message is send by the system to the address given by the would be user. It contains a link to confirm the registration. Once acted upon, the user is connected to the system and is given a temporary password.

How do I change my temporary password ?

Using your eMail address as a unique identifier, together with your temporary password, you have access (under the "User's space" menu) to your private space where you can view and edit your personal profile and also modify your pasword.

I lost my password. What can I do ?

Try to login. If it doesn't work you'll have the possibility to ask the system to send a new provisional password to your email address.

I changed my eMail address. What can I do ?

Make contact with the administrator of the ZCAM site. She/He can change your personal data. Don't overlook the fact that your eMail address is not only a unique identifier to gain access to the site but also to identify your proposals for which you are the sole responsible. The administrator will do everything needed to ensure that the eMail change will be smooth and working in every aspect of your work on the web site.

I am a bit lost ! Where is this particular functionality located ?

You have the possibility to look at the User's site map under the HOME menu. You will have access to all details when logged in.

How many people can manage a proposal ?

There is only one person which is responsible for all aspects of setting up and managing a proposal. Only it's eMail and password give access to the possibility to consult and modify the elements of the activity.

PROPOSALS

I would like to send a mail to all participants of my workshop. How do I do that ?

As the responsible for an activity, you have to manage yourself all communications between you and the participants.
In very limited, special cases, you can transmit a request to the managers of ZCAM, provided all participants (and their email) have been introduced in the databases of the ZCAM site by you while you were setting your proposal up.

I want to set up a proposal. There will be x organizers of the event. Do they have access to all informations before review ?

No, except if you give them your credentials which we strongly discourage. As the setup of a proposal implies the modifications of texts, databases entries, it is utmost important there is only one person responsible for the modifications.

Can I delete one of my proposals ?

Yes, but don't overlook the fact that this is irreversible...

There are more organizers for my proposal than what is provided on the form to complete. What can I do ?

There are two possibilities. Either you enter more organizers data using the "Add participant" functionality (see User's site map), or you edit your proposal itself. The new, already completed form will give you access to three more possibilities to enter additional organizers data.

Do I have to have all information handy before making my proposal ?

No. Your proposal can be managed progressively. It is only visible by you (and the administrator of ZCAM site) and, as time goes on, you can make any change you want. Of course, after the deadline for proposals, it will be transmitted to the review committee as is and, if accepted, you should not modify it except to add contributions files, documents etc related to the activity you are responsible for.
