The theoretical simulation of biological systems plays an essential role in the effots pursued to solve important challenges in our society, like the increasing need to develop new antibiotics. The size and complexity of biosystems has led to a variety of theoretical methodologies aimed at studing such systems at different levels of resolution, ranging from quantum chemistry to multiscale atomistic and coarse­grain molecular simulations and bioinformatics.

The school we propose combines theory and practice with the aim of providing attendees with the necessar background to understand and appropiately apply the main tools of computational biochemistry in their research. This field is of interest for students, as well of researchers, from different backgrounds, both from physical and life sciences. The school on “Computational Biochemistry” (CB) will thus be open to European master and PhD students and postdocs with interest in the simulation of biosystems from different backgrounds, although the level of the school is most appropiate for students in the areas of physics and chemistry. We will specially encourage students of the European Master in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling to attend the school, thus reinforcing the contacts among different European initatives.
